Ala. PD launches DFR program

Drone data from a birds-eye view provides information to responders

By Aajene Robinson, WBRC

HOOVER, Ala. — The Hoover Police Department is now using a drone as a first responder to help keep you safe.

The department has 15 drones but one of them gives officers and firefighters the ability to respond to an emergency quicker than ever before.

Officers say this drone can get to a scene before officers on the ground, and the data from the drone provides first responders with vital information from a birds-eye view.

The drone pilot has the ability to launch the drone from a dock located on the roof of city hall.
