Firefighters help free boy’s hand stuck in escalator

Firefighters and medics worked for more than two hours to free the hand of the boy

LANHAM, Md. — Firefighters and medics worked for more than two hours to free the hand of a 6-year-old boy after it became entangled in an escalator at a mall Thursday night.

CBS DC reported that the boy’s hands and fingers became trapped in a handrail track at the bottom of an escalator.

The boy was given pain medication as medics continued the “challenging and tedious” extrication, according to the report.

The boy was taken to the hospital and the extend of his injuries was not immediately known.
