SHERIDAN LAKE, Colo. — Two firefighters were injured after the fire truck they were driving rolled over Sunday.
FOX 21 News reported that the Kiowa County fire truck, a converted 1980 Chevrolet pickup, was en route to a crash involving two semitractor-trailers on a highway just before 2 p.m. The fire truck lost control, rotated clockwise and ended up in a ditch. It rolled one full time before coming to a stop.
The passenger, 24-year-old Elizabeth Moore, was ejected during the roll. She suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive. The driver, 26-year-old Matthew Biszak, stayed in the truck as it rolled. He suffered minor injuries.
Troopers initially said neither the driver nor passenger had working seat belts, but a mechanical inspection found the belts to be functioning properly.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
