2 N.C. firefighters hurt in fire truck crash

They did not suffer serious injuries and were both conscious and alert on the way to the hospital

COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. — Two firefighters were injured Tuesday when their pumper truck wrecked on the way to a grass fire call.

WECT reported that crews, with the Old Dock-Cypress Creek Volunteer Fire Department, were responding to the grass fire around 5:30 p.m. when the truck flipped on a road. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Firefighters were taken by ambulance to a hospital. They did not suffer serious injuries and were both conscious and alert on the way to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
