DETROIT — Two Detroit firefighter are under investigation for wrecking a fire truck during a joy ride last month.
Fox2Detroit reported that the firefighters at Engine 55 lost control of the fire truck and slammed into the wall of a median. The firefighters later claimed that someone sideswiped the rig. Eventually, they confessed to causing more than $75,000 worth of damage to the engine.
“All I know is that they said it is under investigation and we can’t get to it,” a DFD maintenance worker said. “They keep it locked up.”
The two firefighters, along with another firefighter who helped cover for them, are on administrative leave without pay. An investigation is ongoing.
