SALINA, N.Y. — Mechanical failure caused an out-of-state fire truck to catch fire this morning near the New York State Thruway tollbooth in the town of Salina, according to Liverpool Fire Department First Deputy Chief Jason Ormsby.

The fire truck was formerly owned by a fire department in Kansas City. It was sold and was headed to a fire department in Canada, Ormsby said.

The fire on Interstate 90 near the Interstate 81 exit (Exit 36) was reported at 9:50 a.m., Onondaga County 911 dispatch logs show.

No one was injured, Ormsby said.
