Fire truck stolen outside fire station

A member of the First Nation department had to boost the battery and left the rig running to charge

SIKSIKA, Alberta — Crews are asking for help from the community after the theft of a fire department vehicle over the weekend.

CTV News reported that a member of the Siksika Nation Fire Department had to boost the battery on a grass firefighting truck and left it running to charge. The vehicle, according to officials, was stolen in front of the fire hall. The 2009 white Chevrolet 2500 is outfitted with a tank and pumps for fighting grass fires.

The truck has emergency lights and markings with “Siksika Nation Grass Unit 5" on it.

When stolen, it had the license plate ZAF-284.
