Ky. fire truck overturns while responding to call

Two firefighters received minor injuries; the rig sustained considerable damage

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. — Two firefighters were hurt when their fire truck overturned en route to an emergency call Wednesday.

The State Journal reported that speed and an overcorrection after dropping off the shoulder of the road caused the Franklin County (Ky.) fire truck to overturn.

Two firefighters were taken by EMS to a hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and later released.

“Our most important resources are at home with their families,” Chief Kevin Hutcherson said. “The judge, the deputy judge, and all of county government is thankful that their injuries weren’t any more serious than they were.”

The fire truck sustained considerable damage in the collision.

Chief Hutcherson said the department will use a reserve unit while the damaged rig is out of commission.
