MEMPHIS, Mo. — Two firefighters were involved in a fatal fire truck crash on Memorial Day.

KTVO reports firefighter Jesse Ketchum, 33, was driving the truck and was killed in the crash.

Firefighter John Chancellor, 27, suffered serious injuries and is being treated at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The crash occurred when the two firefighters, who worked with the Memphis Volunteer Fire Department, were on their way to a fire when Ketchum ran the truck off the right side of the highway, overcorrected and sent the truck overturning several times.

Both men were ejected from the vehicle. Neither firefighter was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Ketchum was pronounced dead at the scene.
