DALLAS — Police arrested a suspected drunken driver late Saturday after he crashed into a fire engine in Old East Dallas and then attempted to flee.
The driver crashed into the fire engine about 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 30 near East Grand Avenue, according to KDFW-TV (Channel 4).
The fire engine was protecting authorities who were clearing wreckage on I-30 after an accident when the suspect drove into the engine with his Ford pickup.
The driver slowed down after the crash but then attempted to flee the scene, according to Channel 4.
Fire and police officials chased the suspect and stopped him. He was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, and was arrested.
