Motorcyclist killed in collision with Fla. fire truck

The motorcyclist failed to yield to the rig at an intersection; the crash is under investigation

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A motorcyclist died after a crash with a fire truck Sunday morning.

WFLA reported that the incident happened at about 1 a.m. The victim, William Ash, was riding his motorcycle going north on the inside lane, while Lealman (Fla.) Fire District Engine 19 was in the center lane with its emergency lights and sirens on.

The motorcycle failed to yield to the truck at the intersection and passed it. When the rig turned, the motorcycle hit it, according to the report.

The motorcyclist died on scene. The driver of the fire truck, George Farrall, 59, wasn’t injured.

Troopers believe alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
