BEAUFORT, N.C. — A fire destroyed a fire station and several trucks inside Sunday morning.
The News Observer reported that firefighters with the North River Volunteer Fire Department couldn’t get their equipment out and had to wait for firefighters from other stations to respond.
All the trucks and equipment inside were destroyed, but no one was injured.
“Looking at it now, it hurts me so bad. I just don’t believe that something like that could happen, but that’ll show you anything can happen,” firefighter David Ernest said. “This is a day I will never forget.”
Fire investigators believe the cause of the fire is weather related, according to WCTI12.com reporters.
