BEAUFORT, S.C. — A Burton Fire District fire truck and a passenger vehicle collided on Parris Island Gateway late Friday morning, sending two people to the hospital.
The two people in the car were transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a Burton Fire District news release. The firefighters were not injured.
The Burton firefighters were leaving a breast cancer awareness event on Parris Island but began to stop when they saw a motorist in need of help on the side of the road, according to the release.
Both the fire truck and the passenger vehicle sustained minor damage, according to the release.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
