HOUSTON — A fire truck responding to a highway crash scene was struck by another driver Sunday morning.

The Houston Fire Department was clearing a scene from a vehicle crash when another vehicle struck the rig, reported Click2Houston. Officials said the driver had fallen asleep.

Officials said incidents like this are not uncommon; they take precautions to protect responders. “We put the fire truck in the way of the scene to block the rescuers while they’re working,” Houston Fire Capt. Ruy Lozano told Chron.com.

No one was injured.
