The two had been finishing up their documentations about the earlier crash when the second one happened, according to WKYC.

A commercial vehicle hit a fire engine, a patrol car and the vehicle involved in the prior single-vehicle crash, the state patrol said.

The commercial vehicle driver also was taken to a hospital.

Town & Country Fire District Chief Adam Hory said that Wigal started his firefighting career by working part-time in 2006. Wigal was promoted to lieutenant in 2014 and hired full-time.

The incident is under investigation.
