HALIFAX, Pa. — First responders from multiple agencies are gathering Thursday to honor a Halifax firefighter and tow truck driver who was killed earlier this week while offering roadside assistance on Interstate 78.

Tyler A. Laudenslager, 29, was responding to a call on Tuesday near mile marker 14.7 in Berks County when a vehicle traveling west veered right, hit a commercial vehicle, Laudenslager’s truck and a second heavy-duty tow truck, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday at noon, firefighters from the Halifax Fire Department — in which Laudenslager had served in several roles since 2007 — will be escorting his body from Reading Hospital to Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg, according to a post on their Facebook page.

“Rest easy brother, we’ll take it from here,” the department wrote while announcing his death.

The Pennsylvania State Police, Halifax Fire Department and H&S Towing, Laudenslager’s employer, will be traveling with the hearse, FOX 43 reported.

Lebanon County Special Operations also said they’d be in attendance.

The fire department said anyone who is interested can pay respects to Laudenslager during the procession. They’ll be traveling via I-78, I-81, Route 322 and Route 147.
