2 Mich. FFs injured when semi crashes into engine on interstate

One firefighter is in critical condition; the other suffered serious injuries

UPDATE Saturday, 12:05 PST: One Lincoln Park firefighter was treated and released from the hospital. The other remains at the hospital in stable condition, according to Captain Scott Lewis.

According to WXYZ, Captain Lewis said the crew had been sent to block the scene at an incident involving a jack-knifed semi and car crash. After briefly exiting the engine, a firefighter returned to the engine to grab an N95 mask and that’s when the impact occurred.

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. — Two Lincoln Park firefighters were injured Friday night in an accident involving a semi-truck.

The incident on northbound I-75 at approximately 8:15 p.m., when a semi-truck crashed into the side of Lincoln Park Engine 41, reported Metro Detroit News.

One of the firefighters is in critical condition. The other suffered serious injuries.

Lincoln Park is located approximately 15 minutes from Detroit.
