CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Firefighter Jeffrey Scheuerer, 35, of Raritan Township, died Thursday from injuries he suffered after being struck by a car while participating in a controlled burn near Round Valley Reservoir, said Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns III.

Scheuerer was a member of the New Jersey State Forest Fire Service and the Readington Volunteer Fire Company.

He was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 629 at approximately 11:30 a.m., just south of the main entrance to Round Valley Reservoir, Kearns said.
