MILFORD, Conn. — Five Milford firefighters were credited with delivering a baby at a residence in the city Friday night.
According to the firefighters, Friday night started out pretty quiet, but it suddenly changed when firefighters at Engine 7 got an emergency call. “When we got there, there was a woman on the floor, getting ready to give birth and we knew it was time,” said Milford fire Lt. Adam Hansen. The firefighters said they knew they could not get the family to the hospital in time.
“It’s definitely part of the training but nothing can prepare you for delivering the child,” said firefighter Pat McGee. “You may not get that in your 20- to 25-year career.” The one thing that surprised them, however, was that the woman was pretty calm and so was her husband. The child born on Friday night was the couple’s fifth child.
