SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — A lifeguard and two firefighters are being credited with saving the life of a 17-year-old swimmer Saturday afternoon at the Scott County Park pool.
Mike Putnam, 27, a two-year veteran of the Davenport Fire Department, said he was at the pool with his wife when he heard the lifeguard blow her whistle and jump into the water.
“I saw the look on her face and knew they had a drowning or near drowning,” Putnam said. “I went to the edge of the pool and saw a shadow in the water that wasn’t moving.”
