LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A firefighter was treated at a hospital early Sunday morning after he inhaled chlorine gas in a burning house, a spokesman for the Little Rock Fire Department said.
Corey Littrell, 37, was helping extinguish a fire at 10725 Legion Hut Road, where firefighters had been dispatched at 5:45 a.m., when he began feeling sick, Capt. Jason Weaver said.
Littrell felt nauseated, and his eyes and nose were irritated, Weaver said. He was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, where he was treated and released.
The house, which was destroyed by the fire, has a swimming pool on the property, and the owner kept chlorine in the attic, Weaver said. The fire’s cause is under investigation, he said.
