LOS ANGELES — Four Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were injured on Oct. 7 when a flash fire broke out while they were investigating a reported refrigerant leak at a home in Silver Lake.
The department said in a press release that at approximately 10:48 a.m., LAFD received a 911 call from an air conditioning company servicing an HVAC unit in the basement of a home. The company reported a refrigerant leak, prompting the dispatch of an LAFD engine company to investigate.

While firefighters were investigating the reported leak, a flash fire occurred, injuring four firefighters.
The incident was upgraded to a structure fire, bringing additional resources to the scene.
All four firefighters were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and treatment.
There was no report on the severity of their injuries.
The cause of the flash fire is under investigation.
