WASHINGTON — Two D.C. firefighters expected to be charged for their role in a fight with a civilian during an incident on April 25, turned themselves in to police on Tuesday morning.
D.C. Firefighters Association Local 36 members lined the entrance into the police station as a show of support for Lieutenant Sean Sinon and Firefighter Reden Ecleo, NBC Washington reported.
According to a police report, the fight occurred when firefighters were assessing patients after a car crash near Florida Avenue and North Capitol Street. When a video of the fight went online, six D.C. Fire and EMS employees were placed on leave.

The police report stated that the civilian in the video, Charles Simpkins II, was acting aggressively toward a firefighter when the fight began. Simpkins reportedly punched the firefighter in the face, starting the fight. Simpkins was arrested but charges were later dropped, WTTG reported.
The D.C. Fire and EMS Department issued a statement, “The D.C. Fire and EMS Department has been informed about charges filed against two of our members in relation to an incident that occurred on April 25. As part of the ongoing investigation into the incident, the members in question were placed on administrative duties, and they will continue in that status until the legal proceedings are concluded.”
The exact charges have not been stated.
