MILWAUKEE, Wis. — It appears the city’s firefighters union is interested in being a part of the lawsuit the Milwaukee Police Association has filed against Milwaukee, asking a judge to force the city to abide with a state law ending residency for all local units of government.
At a telephonic status conference Thursday before Circuit Judge Paul Van Grunsven, an attorney representing the Milwaukee Professional Firefighters Association Local 215 said the union may seek to intervene with the MPA suit.
Neither John Fuchs nor Rebecca Boyle, the attorneys representing firefighters, returned a call seeking comment. But Deputy City Attorney Rudolph Konrad, representing the city with City Attorney Grant Langley, said Fuchs indicated the local planned to file a motion with Van Grunsven to intervene in the suit.
