CYCLONE, Pa. — A former fire chief and firefighter was struck and killed by a tanker apparatus Saturday.

Donald Ishman, 60, was assisting a firefighter park a rig into the apparatus bay at the station when he was hit.

Ishman was pronounced dead at the scene, reported the Bradford Era.

As a 40-year member of the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department, Ishman served in many leadership roles, including chief.

“Members of the fire service community across the county will remember Don as a dedicated and valuable member of the fire department, and he will be missed by many,” the McKean County Department of Emergency Services wrote in a statement.
