ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. — A volunteer firefighter died Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle at a crash scene, according to officials.
WAFB reported that the unnamed volunteer firefighter responded to a vehicle crash and was struck by a secondary vehicle while working on the scene. He was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said both of the crashes were caused by the icy road.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this dedicated firefighter, as well as to his fire service family and the community of West Feliciana Parish,” State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said in a statement.
