NEW YORK — A raging Bronx fire that left 10 people hurt and displaced 26 residents was sparked by a lithium-ion battery-powered e-bike stored under the stairs.

With the stairs set ablaze by the burning battery, residents in the four-story Marble Hill Ave. building near 225th St. needed to scale down the fire escape to escape, FDNY officials said.

Firefighters called to the building about 2:15 p.m. and found heavy fire on all floors.

Four residents and six firefighters were hurt in the blaze but all are expected to recover.

More than 130 firefighters were called in to put out the fire, which was brought under control in about 90 minutes.

“E-bike frame and battery remnants were recovered under the 1st-floor stairwell where the fire originated, trapping residents and forcing others to use the fire escape,” the FDNY tweeted.

A lithium-ion battery sparked a massive blaze in Harlem last month that killed a Columbia Journalism School graduate and injured 17 others, FDNY officials said.

Last year, lithium-ion batteries were responsible for 268 fires citywide that injured 150 and killed 18.
