UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.Y. — Firefighter Alex Moss, 54, died of an apparent heart attack Sunday, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

After responding to a residential fire call, Moss remained at the Upper Saddle River fire station and told his fellow firefighters he was not feeling well.

He went home, and his wife found him dead in the early afternoon.

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.Y. — A Bergen County firefighter has died in the line of duty, officials said.

The Upper Saddle River Fire Department announced the death of Alex Moss in a Facebook post on Sunday night.

“It is with deep regret and great sadness the Upper Saddle River Fire Department announces the untimely passing and Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Alex Moss,” the post said. “Please keep the Moss family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this tough time.”

The department did not provide details on the circumstances of his death.

Moss is the second firefighter in Bergen County to die in the past week.

Kevin May, an 11-year member of the Westwood Volunteer Fire Department, died on Monday, October 24, the department said in a Facebook post.

Fire officials did not say whether May died in the line of duty.
