Mayday: Conn. firefighter falls through floor after making distress call

A Rapid Intervention Team removed the Bridgeport firefighter from the burning house, and an EMS crew transported him to a hospital

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport firefighter made a mayday call before falling through the second floor of a burning house Tuesday night. Two alarms were sounded to draw additional crews, WTNH reported.

Officials said that the firefighter had been checking for extension in the structure when he fell.

A Rapid Intervention Team removed the firefighter from the first floor, and an EMS crew transported him to a hospital.

Officials have not commented on the extent of the firefighter’s injuries.
