HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A popular Italian restaurant in Hanover Township, Northampton County, is closed indefinitely after a Sunday morning fire.

Roughly 10 fire companies, including the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Company, responded to a fire at Nonna Sulina’s Sicilian Kitchen & Grill, 5000 Bath Pike, just after 9 a.m., according to a Northampton County dispatcher.

The firefighters reported it was extinguished around 10:45 a.m.

According to a Facebook post just before 10 a.m. Sunday, Nonna Sulina’s is closed until further notice. The post added that Nonna’s Italian Market is also closed but will reopen on Tuesday.

“Please know that this decision was made with the utmost consideration for your safety and well-being,” the post said. “We are actively addressing the situation and will keep you updated as soon as possible.”

State police are investigating the fire.

The restaurant, Chief Scott Van Why of the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Department, and state police didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
