PRICHARD, Ala. — Officers with the Prichard Police Department arrested a pair of firefighters Wednesday after officials said they stole equipment from the city.
Matthew Mueller Bray, 31, and Bradford William Helveston, 25, face one count each of first-degree theft. Both men posted bond Wednesday. They were scheduled to appear in court on June 17.
Philip Stiell, chief of staff for Mayor Troy Ephriam, confirmed both men worked as firefighters. He did not say how long they had been with the department. Ephriam expressed anger and disappointment over the arrest Wednesday, calling it a betrayal of the public’s trust.
