SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A couple accused of stealing a purse from a Bower Hills volunteer firefighter’s truck have been arrested and connected to several similar incidents across Allegheny County, police said.

Anthony Checca and his fiancée, Stephanie Zilka, are accused of targeting dozens of unsuspecting victims since mid-summer, when police believe their crime spree began.

“They were very busy throughout the western region of the county,” Robinson Township Police Chief Dale Vietmeir said. Authorities said one of Checca and Zilka’s targets was a customer at a GetGo gas station in Robinson Township. While the woman was pumping gas, the couple allegedly snuck around to her passenger side and stole her purse, according to police.
