KING COUNTY, Wash. — A man impersonating a firefighter may have tricked a 93-year-old woman in Enumclaw so that others could steal from her garage on Monday, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The man, described in a news release as wearing yellow work clothes and carrying a clipboard, asked to check out fire hazards in the woman’s home, the sheriff’s office said. He looked around and told her everything appeared all right before he left.
Authorities believe he was distracting the woman while accomplices stole items in her garage, the release says.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information on the man, or who sees a person impersonating a firefighter or asking to do unscheduled safety checks, to call 206-296-3311.
