CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. — A volunteer fire police officer was struck by a vehicle on the scene of a fire last week.

Meadville Tribune reported that Robert Repa suffered injuries to both legs after being struck while assisting with traffic control.

“He’s banged up pretty good,” Chief Jeff Murdock said. “Everyone who has been to see him says he’s been doing pretty well, all things considered.”

Repa said he suffered two broken legs, crushed arteries and other injuries, according to the report.

“It wasn’t pretty, according to the people here,” Repa said. “I remember getting hit — it threw me over the guardrail and out into the creek.”

Repa was released from the hospital to a rehabilitation facility Friday.

“We’d love to have him back as soon as possible once he gets healed up,” Chief Murdock said. “He’s one of us — one of the crew, one of the guys. He’s always there when you need him.”

Police are still investigating the incident; no charges have been filed yet.
