We’ve talked several times on this show about working with younger firefighters. But we haven’t heard their viewpoint. That’s about to change.

Millennials are sometimes a mystery to previous generations. They learn differently. They react differently. They relate differently.

In this podcast, we talk to Tom Redden, a millennial who’s been around long enough to have seen the mistakes young firefighters make and can share some advice for the new guys. Redden has been a firefighter/EMT with the Flanders Fire Department in East Lyme, Connecticut, since 2017.

Code 3 is hosted by award-winning journalist Scott Orr, who has covered the fire/EMS/police beat for most of his 30-plus year career in news. He’s worked around the country in both TV and print. Orr was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease over a decade ago, but that doesn’t stop him from interviewing fire service leaders on issues that concern firefighters around the nation.
