FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth firefighters performed a high-angle rescue after a crane operator experienced an emergency about 220 feet above the ground at John Peter Smith Hospital.
Firefighters were called shortly before noon on Aug. 29 for a man in distress inside the crane cab, more than 22 stories above the ground, WFAA reported. The department’s Technical Rescue Team responded to carry out the rescue.

The exact nature of the call and the operator’s condition were not reported.
Firefighters provided emergency medical care after reaching the crane operator and then rigged a rope system to lower him safely to the ground.
Officials said the rescue was completed within an hour of crews locating the man. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
