Bob Meyer, 54, was running in and out of the building when he collapsed on the street

UNION BEACH, N.J. — A volunteer firefighter died after battling a four-alarm warehouse fire Sunday night.

NBC New York reported that Bob Meyer, 54, with the Belford Engine Company, died after responding to the blaze. He was running in and out of the building when he collapsed on the street.

Firefighter Meyer was later pronounced dead. It’s not clear if he died as a result of the fire or from another condition, according to the report.

“There are no words to say other than Bob was one of the good ones who done a lot for Station 3,” a Facebook post from the Belford Engine Company said. “You will be missed my brother and may God see you home. Until we meet again my friend.”

Four other firefighters were taken to the hospital as a precaution and no other injuries were reported, according to the report.
