Tenn. volunteer firefighter killed in motorcycle crash

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. — A volunteer firefighter was killed in a car crash Wednesday morning.

Andrew Davidson, 18, was on his way home from a shift with the Union County Sheriff’s Department, where he also worked as a corrections officer, when his motorcycle crossed the double yellow line and collided with a semi-truck around 2:30 a.m., according to WATE.

Davidson had connections with multiple agencies, working as a corrections officer for the Grainger County Sheriff’s Department and training to be a reserve officer with the Union County Sheriff’s Department.

He also worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Tazewell-New Tazewell Fire Department.

Flags across Union and Claiborne counties were at half-staff Wednesday as the entire community mourned; a cross flowers mark the spot where Davidson was struck. Funeral arrangements are pending.
