ORINDA, Calif. — Private company fire crews are working with California agencies to mitigate potential wildfires as much as possible.
CAL FIRE, Lawrence Berkeley Lab, Contra Costa Fire and Orinda-Moraga Fire are just a few of the agencies working with Firestorm Wildland Fire Suppression, Inc., to mitigate wildfires, Fox KTVU reported.
The 300-employee company is helping to clear brush, oversee controlled burns and fight wildland fires. Thirty-two firefighters working at Firestorm worked the Camp Fire and lost their homes in the fire.
“We travel and do a lot of emergency response on wildland fires for the Federal agencies, and we’re used to working with a lot of different people. We use the incident command system. A lot of the individuals that do what we do, they’re, I want to say, more Type A personalities that enjoy the rush of running a chain saw. They like the hard work,” Jess Wills, president of Firestorm Wildland Fire Suppression, Inc., said.
