WEST NYACK, N.Y. — A longtime New York City firefighter died Monday from 9/11-related cancer.
Lohud.com reported that Joseph “Toolie” O’Toole, 61, was surrounded by family when he died at home after a long battle with cancer. The FDNY confirmed his cancer was related to his time working at the World Trade Center site. A funeral mass was held Thursday.
O’Toole spent 19 years in the FDNY at 41 Truck in the Bronx. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son and five grandchildren.
