SUBANG JAYA, Malaysia — Firemen rescued five foreign workers from a burning building still under construction in Bandar Puteri, Puchong, near here yesterday.
The 2 pm fire was believed to have started from the second floor of the 19-storey building.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s operations assistant director Mohd Sani Harul said five engines and 31 personnel from Puchong, Cyberjaya and Petaling Jaya put out the blaze nearly an hour later.
He said the workers, comprising Indonesians and Myanmar nationals who were in the building at the time, ran to the upper floors and were rescued using turn-table ladders.
The fire caused massive traffic jam in the surrounding area.
