BLOXOM, Va. — A volunteer firefighter was killed after being ejected from a fire truck in a single-vehicle crash Monday in Va.
Firefighter David Raymond Chew, Jr., of the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company, was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, according to WBOC.
Virginia State Police said the driver of the fire truck, Firefighter James Richard Lambirth, lost control of the vehicle while in a curve, ran off the road, striking several trees, overturning and ejecting the passenger,
Firefighter Lambirth was taken to the Peninsula Regional Center Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
