PENSACOLA, Fla. — A corrections officer, who is also a volunteer firefighter, was attacked Saturday morning while responding to a crash.
Kurtis Clark was on his way to Escambia County Jail for work when he responded to the crash, WEARtv reported.
After arriving on the scene, Clark saw David Lawrence attacking those who were trying to help him after the crash. When Clark tried to intervene, Lawrence attacked him and bit him in the face.
Clark credited his corrections training for helping him in the attack.
“You have to hope for the best and prepare for the worst in situations like this and i’m glad no one else got hurt,” Clark told the news station.
Lawrence was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and arrested. Clark was treated for minor injuries and released.
