STODDARD, N.H. — A volunteer firefighter was sentenced to two and half years in prison after pleading guilty to arson charges Monday.

David Plante, 31, set several fires in April, which burned over 190 acres of land, reported WMUR.

Plante admitted to starting one fire by using a glass bottle to magnify sunlight and using a flint light to start a second fire.

The second fire caused around $500,000 in damage and forced the evacuation of 17 homes.
