WEBSTER, Mass. — Four firefighters were injured yesterday while battling a massive seven-alarm blaze at a vacant mill in Webster that may have been set, the state fire marshal said.

Three buildings in the Anglo Fabrics Mill complex, ranging from one- to three-stories tall, caught fire about 1 p.m. Smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said officials suspect arson, but the cause is still being determined.

Webster Fire Chief Brian Hickey said four firefighters were hospitalized with minor injuries, including two who returned to the fire after being treated.

Embers from the blaze started several minor fires nearby, and some homes had to be evacuated.
