Firefighter trainee pleads guilty to 2 counts of arson

Jeffrey Pace, who was training with the department in December 2012 when the incidents occurred, was ordered to pay $45,317 restitution

PURVIS, Mississippi — A former firefighter trainee pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree arson Friday.

The Associated Press reported that Jeffrey Dakota Pace’s plea was the second that week for someone associated with the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

Judge Prentiss Harrell ordered both Pace and former firefighter Michael Graham Davis to pay $45,300 restitution, according to the report. They could have faced five to 20 years on each charge.

Firefighter Pace was training with the department when the fires were set at two residential buildings on the same street in December 2012.

Both men were sentenced to the Regimented Discipline Program. When they complete it, the charges will be cleared from their records, according to the report.
