Former Pa. firefighter gets jail for arson

Cory Praschyk will spend up to two years in jail for setting the blazes

LEHIGH COUNTY, — A former Pa. firefighter will serve up to two years in jail for setting several brush fires.

Cory Praschyk, 21, was sentenced Monday to serve time in county jail, according to the Morning Call.

Praschyk was also fined $500 and will be on probation for five years after he finishes his sentence.

He and another accomplice set several brushfires in April and were later arrested after they were found near one of the blazes.

Praschyk used to be a volunteer firefighter with Northampton and Lehigh Counties, and was driving around with emergency lights on when he and his partner lit the fires.

While in court, he also admitted to setting brush fires in 2010.
