PHOENIX — The mother of a firefighter who died after allegedly being assaulted by a bouncer at a strip club is pushing for change.
AZFamily.com reported that off-duty firefighter Luke Jones was fatally assaulted by a bouncer in January.
“Luke’s irreplaceable. There is no way to replace Luke,” his mother, Barbara Jones, said.
Jones launched a petition to create “Luke’s Law” to change regulations for hiring bouncers.
In the state of Arizona, no bouncer training is required. “Luke’s Law” would change that by requiring training, licensing and background checks.
“Security guards are trained and licensed and background checked. I’d like to see that for bouncers too,” Jones said. “It may not prevent everything but it will help immensely.”
