BUDE, England — A toddler laughing while firefighters worked to free him from a locked car has gone viral.

Today.com reported that 14-month-old Brandon Emery locked himself in his mother’s car. His mother had put him in the back seat while she unloaded groceries into the trunk. After closing the trunk with the car keys still inside, the toddler pushed the power locks.

Crews from Bude Community Fire Station responded; the toddler had climbed into the front seat and was gripping the steering wheel while smiling.

“Thank you to the amazing guys who rescued my cheeky monkey after locking himself in the car today,” his mom wrote on Facebook. “He was clearly traumatized by the whole ordeal.”

Firefighters broke the rear driver’s window after an unsuccessful attempt to pop the lock.

“It’s just brilliant how unfazed he was by the whole thing,” firefighter Matthew Wonnacott said. “He seemed very entertained by the fact that there was a whole group of strangers staring into his mom’s car.”
