Firefighter escapes injury after blaze destroys bulldozer

County firefighters are credited with saving the Forest Service firefighter from the blaze

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, Fla. — A firefighter experienced a close call after a bulldozer being used to contain a brush fire was scorched.

WPTV reported that the quick-moving fire destroyed the bulldozer, but a Forest Service firefighter escaped serious injury. Okeechobee County Fire Rescue, who were helping put out the fire, are being credited with saving the firefighter’s life.

No homes have been destroyed by the blaze; the community’s electrical infrastructure was damaged.

The fire was 80 percent contained by Monday.
